Vermiculite for Hydroponics – Benefits

    Vermiculite holds a high amount of moisture, helping maintain consistent hydration around roots—useful in warm climates and low-humidity environments.

    It can hold and exchange nutrients better than many inert media, helping buffer feeding fluctuations and supporting steadier growth (especially in seedlings).

    Because it stays evenly moist, vermiculite is widely used for seed starting, propagation, and rooting cuttings.

  4. Lightweight & easy to handle
    Low bulk density makes it convenient for trays, nursery operations, and shipping.

Common Uses of Vermiculite in Hydroponics

1) Seed starting trays / propagation

  • Use as a top layer or main medium for germination.

  • Keeps seeds consistently moist without puddling (when not overwatered).

2) Cuttings and transplant rooting

  • Ideal for rooting cuttings because it stays moist and supports delicate new roots.

3) Cocopeat/peat-based hydroponic mixes

  • Used to increase water retention in coco/peat mixes.

  • Helpful for crops that prefer more consistent moisture.

4) Soil-less potting and nursery bags (hydroponic-style feeding)

  • Works well in container grows where you fertigate (feed through irrigation).

Recommended Mix Ratios (Practical)

  • Cocopeat : Vermiculite = 70:30 (general purpose, more moisture)

  • Cocopeat : Perlite : Vermiculite = 60:20:20 (balanced moisture + aeration)

  • Perlite : Vermiculite = 50:50 (seedlings/propagation; adjust based on watering)

Tip: If you already use perlite, adding vermiculite is mainly to increase moisture retention.

Best Fit Systems (Where Vermiculite Works Well)

  • Seedling trays, plug trays, nursery propagation

  • Container hydroponics / drip fertigation setups

  • Coco/peat-based slabs or grow bags (as a blend component)

Not ideal as a sole medium in systems needing very high airflow at the root zone (unless you blend with perlite).

  • High moisture retention for stable root hydration

  • Good nutrient-holding capacity (buffers feeding)

  • Ideal for germination, seedlings, and propagation

  • Lightweight, clean, easy to mix with cocopeat/perlite

  • Helps reduce compaction and supports root development

Vermiculite is a lightweight, expanded mineral growing medium used in hydroponics for high water retention and nutrient buffering. It is especially suitable for seed starting, propagation, and cocopeat mixes, helping maintain consistent moisture around roots and supporting healthy early-stage growth. Use alone for germination or blend with perlite/cocopeat for a balanced hydroponic media.

For best performance, do not overwater. Vermiculite retains moisture strongly—blend with perlite when you need more aeration and drainage.

Standard Shipping within India

1. Free standard shipping on retail orders over Rs. 2000.00 in India.
2. All orders placed will be shipped within 2 business days.
3. Custom Print orders are shipped in 7-10 business days.
4. Orders placed after 11AM IST on Fridays, will be processed the following Monday.
5. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding scheduled fulfilment canter closures.
6. We do not process or ship orders on Saturdays or Sundays.
7. Custom orders do not qualify for these shipping and delivery timelines.
8. Delivery times are as shared by courier partners, +2 day variations could occur due to unavoidable circumstances.

EXCHANGE & RETURN POLICY

Exchange & Returns Policy

Our policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as food, flowers, newspapers or magazines cannot be returned. We also do not accept products that are intimate or sanitary goods, hazardous materials, or flammable liquids or gases.
